Speak Now . . .

Anthony Miller

“Wait! Hold on one second. Please.”

“What is it now?”

“We both know what we’re supposed to do. Why not do the unexpected?”

“Get to the point.”

“I don’t believe in fairy tales. If we can think of a better way, this match won’t be a disaster.”

“Beautiful boy. You’d better make it quick. They’re all here to witness the ceremony.”

“I’m thinking.”

“Look, your people arranged this mess simply because I’m rich, and you wanted a piece of it. I don’t care if you’ve got the jitters. We do this now and get it over with.”

“Why do you have to be so stubborn? Most of these people don’t want to be here anyway. They know this was poorly thought out to begin with and would gladly go home, given the chance. If we use our heads, we’ll spare all of us a lot of pain and anguish.”

“Dear boy, I’ve been through this before, and you’ve made promises and taken oaths. As you say, we each know our parts. So… Ready?”

He clapped down his visor and brought his sword into position. “I guess so.”

Without further ado, the Dragon ate him.
